More Wages Of Sin

Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The ultimate wages of sin is death but there are other wages of sin that precede death that should scare the wits out of us too.

Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Thank the Lord that Jesus was paid the ultimate wages of our sin and those of us who have received Him will not have to pay those ultimate wages. But we often foolishly commit sins that we ourselves have to pay for here and now. I believe that both believers and unbelievers commit sins for which some of the wages are paid before they die, many more than we shall touch upon in this article.

Psalms 38:3: There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

Psalms 106:15: And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

Leviticus 26:39: And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies* lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

Deuteronomy 28:65: And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:

Jeremiah 3:25: We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.

Ezekiel 20:43: And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

1 Corinthians 11:30: For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Psalms 66:18: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

The Bible is chock full of more wages of sin. I believe they are like little samples of Hell right here on earth. We can thank the Lord that we will miss Hell. But we should also be grateful that we can confess our sins, forsake them and that we don*t have to pay all those pre-death wages of sin either.

1 John 5:16-17: If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

Psalms 103:8-10: The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. 9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. 10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
